چکیده
Abstract Background One of the parameters required for assessment food and feed safety is detection identification genetically modified organisms. Legislation in some countries necessitates quantification modification samples. Scientists have raised concern about antibiotic resistance marker (ARM) genes used transformation crops intended human animal consumption. In present work two molecular approaches been adopted: one exploratory; ARM tested plant samples other confirmatory; to determine specificity/reliability obtained results. Results revealed that primers neomycin phosphotransferase ( nptII ) aminoglycoside 3″ adenyl-transferase aadA were amplified majority 36 DNA screened Melting curve analysis using hygromycin aphIV gene as target sequence fluorescent-based approach was performed ensure reliability specificity this procedure confirm results by conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Quantitative RT-PCR validation followed, all not violating European legislation GMOs labeling (0.9%). Conclusions The fully demonstrated reproducibility, sensitivity/specificity adopted even traces GMO contents. Applying measurement uncertainty (MU) procedures presented will help decision makers compliance with International Regulations. This its turn facilitate enhance trading having compelling regulations.

Proteomic evaluation of genetically modified crops: current status and challenges
Hectares of genetically modified (GM) crops have increased exponentially since 1996, when such crops began to be commercialized. GM biotechnology, together with conventional breeding, has become the main approach to improving agronomic traits of crops. However, people are concerned about the safety of GM crops, especially GM-derived food and feed. Many efforts have been made to evaluate the uni...
متن کاملWhy genetically modified crops?
This paper is intended to convey the message of the talk I gave at the Theo Murphy meeting at the Kavli Centre in July 2010. It, like the talk, is polemical, and conveys the exasperation felt by a practitioner of genetically modified (GM) plant science at its widespread misrepresentation. I argue that sustainable intensification of agriculture, using GM as well as other technologies, reduces it...
متن کاملMolecular Approaches for High Throughput Detection and Quantification of Genetically Modified Crops: A Review
As long as the genetically modified crops are gaining attention globally, their proper approval and commercialization need accurate and reliable diagnostic methods for the transgenic content. These diagnostic techniques are mainly divided into two major groups, i.e., identification of transgenic (1) DNA and (2) proteins from GMOs and their products. Conventional methods such as PCR (polymerase ...
